Personal Experiences

September 2, 2007 was a defining moment in my life. I couldn't have been more thrilled to marry my high school sweetheart. We married at a fairly young age, experiencing many of life's responsibilities earlier than most. This has given us the opportunity to grow and mature in our relationship in a unique way. I am very grateful that my husband has taught me to enjoy life and not take myself too seriously.

In the fall of 2009, I became a licensed General Securities RepresentativeI obtained both my series 7 and 63 licenses which required many hours of study, ending in two rigorous exams. I did not have any previous experience in this industry and therefore, the subject matter

was very challenging at times. I learned to overcome fear and become a
self-learner.  I spent many nights studying and taking practice tests.  My
hard work paid off as I passed both exams on the first attempt.

Few people knew that I had a secret desire to run a half-marathon (13.1 miles). I have always admired those who participated in races, but didn't have the confidence that I could complete one myself. In 2011, I had the crazy notion to challenge myself. I paired up with a friend and trained 16 weeks for our first race in Chicago, IL. It was a wonderful experience and conditioned not only physical endurance, but mental and emotional endurance as well. Although we finished the race, we were instructed to walk the last mile due to extreme heat. The race was officially cancelled and no times were recorded.

I thought I needed to "officially" finish a race. My running buddy and I signed up to run another half-marathon four months later. This time it was not cancelled and we ran the full race. This experience taught me so much about myself: mainly that I shouldn't give up on something before I even try.
